Streamyx down, dial up to the rescue

You have called 100, do all the troubleshooting and yet your Streamyx connection still won’t work. Don’t smash your monitor or crush the modem yet. You still have one more option to turn to. Yes, that’s right. The good old 56k dial up Internet connection to the rescue. Many people do not realize that they still can connect to the Internet using dial up after they have terminated their 1515 TMNET account. Instead of dial to 1515, you dial 1315! No registration and login id/password required.

Here is how to setup the connection in Windows XP.

1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options. This window will appear.

2. Next, click on Add button and this window will appear…

3. Select Dial-up to private network and click Next. Then this window will appear…

4. Key in 1315 and click Next. This window will appear…

5. Give this connection a name. I named it TM EZnet. Click finish and this window will appear…

6. Leave everything blank and click OK. This window will appear…

7. You have successfully added the new connection.

It costs RM0.04 a minute for fixed phone line and it will be billed in your monthly TM bill. No usage – no charge. Please visit product page for more details.

Nothing brings back the good old days like the cranking sound of connecting dial up modem do. Oh, don’t forget to disconnect when you read or write your long email.
